LaSalle County Board members voted unanimously Thursday to put a referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot asking voters if they support the right to carry concealed firearms.
"We just voted to put the issue to the people and let the public have its say," said Freeman.
Mostly good, in my opinion. While it is a good thing this is going to the public to vote on, that same Illinois public has been indoctrinated with anti-gun hysteria for the last 35 years. All they hear about is guns and crime from nearby Chicago and how bad guns are.
The second bad point to this: Why would a public referendum be needed for a Bill of Rights guaranteed right? The Right to Bear Arms is guaranteed. Do we really need a special permit to carry concealed? I don't think so, but I got one so I didn't end up in jail and lose my rights to own any guns.
Yes, allowing the public to choose their destiny is a good step, but still not there...yet.
